If you own a digital camera don’t be fooled into thinking that you are at the mercy of the software that oftentimes ships with the camera. There are many other numerous software options available (for FREE) that will make your life much easier. For example, the simple task of resizing and converting a photo should be just that, “a simple task”; not a task where you are sorting through menus to find what you need to accomplish the task.
A FREE, FAST and EASY option, that I recently found for resizing photos, is called Photo Magician.
Photo Magician is a small and easy to use program that allows you to quickly scale and convert your images. It will enable you to easily process several files at once and create custom conversion profiles. The supported formats include common ones like BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG and TIF but the application can handles some that are more special like RAW images, DDS, PCX, PSD, TARGA, WBMP and WMF. There is also a drag and drop quick convert mode to make the conversion process even faster and easier.
Using Photo Magician is an easy step-by-step process:
- Select the input folder (where your images are stored)
- Select the output folder (where you want the resized images stored)
- Select a “resizing” profile that you want to use
- Select any additional options you wish to apply
- Click on “Process Image”
As stated earlier there are numerous FREE software options out there to make your life with your photos (and digital camera) much easier and Photo Magician is one such example. In my testing of Photo Magician I found it to be one of the fastest image converters I have experienced. Keep an eye on this one; it will surely get even better.

Excellent software. Used it to resize several hundred images and has to be the fastest conversion software I have seen. Great find. Putting on the school’s blog with a link back here!
Thanks

TTC Shelbyville,
Definitely the fastest converter I have experienced, as well. Thank you for the comment (and support) and the link back.

This is what I have been searching for for quite awhile now. So many batch converters only allow you to set either the Width or Height attribute but not both. Thanks for posting!
Big Geek Daddy,
This was a new app to me, as well. The speed is awesome and the results are right on.
