The Internet’s Largest Tech Blogroll (?)

May 16, 2009

When I entered the world of blogging I soon learned that getting your blog name (link) posted on another person’s “blog roll” is an honor and nice gesture. A blogroll is a list of recommended blogs (sites) usually posted on the sidebar of a blog. In my case, here at “What’s On My PC…” , the blogroll is located on the right side of the blog.

Above the blogroll you will notice, what I call, the “Launch Pad” .  The Launch Pad is a launching point to over 150 tech blogs and sites that I visit on a regular basis.  I figured this was an excellent way to share tech sites and make it easy for you to visit those sites.  In a sense it is a blogroll on steroids…

LaunchPad( click here )

Since the inception of the Launch Pad I have been on a mission to visit and collect quality tech related blogs (and sites). Today I am adding an additional (37) blogs to the Launch Pad (see below), bringing the Launch Pad total to 182 sites. This could possibly be the largest “Tech Blogroll” out there…

When you visit the Launch Pad you will notice that some blog and site names are larger than others. Those are blogs that have committed to link exchanges with “What’s On My PC…”.  If you would like to commit to a link exchange, please leave a comment below and I will contact you.

Launch Pad Collection of Over 140 Top Quality Tech blogs and Freeware Sites

March 2, 2009

What's On My PC... - Launch PadThe Launch Pad, which is located on the sidebar of the blog, is my version of a blog roll on steroids. It is a community of “over 140  top quality tech blogs and web sites” that specialize in technology news, freeware, open source software, portable apps, cloud apps, gadgets, information security and anything else that is geek inspired. I visit these sites on a regular basis to fill that void between my ears.  Visiting and interacting with the blogging community and tech sites is a great way to learn.

The first thing you will notice about the Launch Pad is that some of the site names are in a larger font size. These are sites that have committed to link exchanges with my blog and our recognized for that. If you are interested in a link exchange or would like to have your blog added to the “Launch Pad”,  please leave a comment at the bottom of this article and I will get back to you. Link exchanges are a great way to drive traffic to each others blogs.

If you are interested in adding the Launch Pad sites to your browser’s bookmarks, you can download the Launch Pad links and import the file (html) to your browser’s bookmarks OR you can download the Launch Pad file, and open it directly in your browser.

What’s On My PC… Launch Pad Update!

January 7, 2009

launchpadOne of my favorite past times when it comes to blogging, is finding other sites and blogs that are similar in interest to the “What’s On My PC…” blog.  My goal has been to compile a listing of tech sites that I feel are credible, informative, helpful, and provide “FREE” software and learning options to my readers. The list continues to grow…  Sites that I feel meet the criteria indicated are posted on the sidebar (right side) and are placed in an area called the “Launch Pad”. The “Launch Pad” has been set up in such a way that when you click on a link, the site will open in another window. This allows the user to toggle back and forth between the “Launch Pad” and the site(s) of interest.

You will notice on the Launch Pad (right side of blog), where some site names are larger (font size) than others. These are sites that I have link exchanges with. If you are interested in a link exchange with “What’s On My PC…”, and your site meets the criteria previously indicated, please leave a comment below requesting the link exchange. You will be prompted for your email and site address which will not be visible to other users or spambots.

The new additions to the “Launch Pad” are:

New Additions to the “Launch Pad”…

November 16, 2008

The really neat thing about blogging is that you learn to find other blogs and web sites that have an interest or subject that is common with yours. I love cruising IT blogs and websites. To me it is like looking for a hidden trove of information. If you are someone that has an interest in freeware software, open source software, and information technology, I encourage you to use the "Launch Pad" located on the sidebar of the blog to visit the sites that have been collected. You can learn a whole lot by just reading about, reviewing, installing and making software work. To me that is the name of the game. My IT roots are attributed not from tearing PC’s apart, but was from installing and learning software to make the PC and devices work in a way that made the end user’s job consistently easier and more efficient.

The following blog and web sites have been added to the "What’s On My PC – Launch Pad", which is located on the sidebar at the right side of the blog. If there is something out there that meets the common denominator with all of these sites, that you would like me to add to this list, feel free to leave a comment. As always, Thank you for visiting my blog…

UPDATE… Amazon.com Customer Reviews of the Acer Aspire One…

November 9, 2008

I recently did a post on the Acer Aspire One (Mini-Netbook) that I had purchased [CLICK HERE]. If anyone is interested, click on the “Amazon” graphic below to read the reviews so far on the Aspire One. At the time of this post there were 78 reviews posted at Amazon.   I was quite pleased that many people are rating the Aspire One as a good experience. I don’t know how long this link will be available; therefore, this blog post may end up being a temporary post.

What’s On My PC… BLOG UPDATES!

October 25, 2008

The following sites or blogs have been added to the “What’s On My PC… LAUNCH PAD” (located on the right side of the blog posts).

Shell Extension City

DonationCoder.com

Raymond.cc

Smashing Magazine

The Launch Pad can be used to visit the numerous quality web sites and blogs that are listed. It is conveniently setup so that if you click on a link it will open in a new separate window. That way you can click on a link, a separate window will open, which will allow you to conveniently return to the “Launch Pad” when you are finished visiting the site. The Sites and Blogs reflected in the listing are all maintained and updated on a regular basis. If you are someone who is into open source software, freeware applications and technology information, I encourage you to use the “Launch Pad”.

I am slowly adding to the “Portable Apps” tab located at the top of the blog. The applications I have listed are applications that I personally use on my portable USB flash drives. Also, under the “Freebies” tab, I added a couple more goodies.  You will also notice at the top of each page there is a search box that will allow you to search the blog for specific information that has been posted.  This is a nice “add-on” provided by WordPress to enhance the efficiency of the blog.  A big “THANK YOU” to WordPress for this enhancement (widget).

Thank you for visiting and I hope you continue to come back.
