Portable Apps

I think one of the greatest innovations in computer technology was the implementation of the Universal Serial Bus (USB) standard which interfaces devices on your computer. One such device commonly used with this interface is the USB flash drive. It absolutely fascinates me that you can read / write data to these drives AND there are no moving parts. This technology replaced the floppy drive because of the large storage capacities (in the gigabytes). These drives are available everywhere, in various size capacities, and are the common means to store and transport data between computers. As the flash drive technology developed, software authors commenced engineering software applications, known as portable apps, to run from these devices. This “What’s On My PC” page is devoted to the portable apps that I use on my flash drive.  Everything I have listed is freely available on the internet.
