Web Sites formatted for your Blackberry…

April 2, 2009

If you own a Blackberry, or any mobile phone or handheld device for that matter, that has the ability to access web pages on the internet, then you will be interested in the link below (from Blackberry Forums).  This listing  is an excellent compilation of sites that has been formatted for portable devices (such as the Blackberry Smartphone). The listing appears to have been last updated Oct ‘08; however, I found most of the links alive. Another great use for a listing such as this, is if you are on an extemely slow dialup connection and need to get to the news, etc… fast.

In the event you desire to import the list to your favorites,
you can download the list here – [ DOWNLOAD ]

Recently I posted, what has become a very popular article:

How to use a Blackberry Smartphone with a cheap “Pay As You Go” mobile phone plan…

As an update to that article, I continue to make use of my Blackberry with the cheap phone plan AND have found no problems locating resources for the PDA/Phone.  So far, I’m loving it…

Launch Pad Collection of Over 140 Top Quality Tech blogs and Freeware Sites

March 2, 2009

What's On My PC... - Launch PadThe Launch Pad, which is located on the sidebar of the blog, is my version of a blog roll on steroids. It is a community of “over 140  top quality tech blogs and web sites” that specialize in technology news, freeware, open source software, portable apps, cloud apps, gadgets, information security and anything else that is geek inspired. I visit these sites on a regular basis to fill that void between my ears.  Visiting and interacting with the blogging community and tech sites is a great way to learn.

The first thing you will notice about the Launch Pad is that some of the site names are in a larger font size. These are sites that have committed to link exchanges with my blog and our recognized for that. If you are interested in a link exchange or would like to have your blog added to the “Launch Pad”,  please leave a comment at the bottom of this article and I will get back to you. Link exchanges are a great way to drive traffic to each others blogs.

If you are interested in adding the Launch Pad sites to your browser’s bookmarks, you can download the Launch Pad links and import the file (html) to your browser’s bookmarks OR you can download the Launch Pad file, and open it directly in your browser.

Online Porn – Conservative States Biggest Users…

February 28, 2009

ABC News has published an article that indicates the people who are most outraged by pornography turn out to be consumers of the very things they claimed to be outraged by. A nationwide study, which was based on credit-card receipts from a major online adult entertainment provider, is indicating that the more conservative and religious states are reportedly topping out the numbers.

Irregardless of your stance or the validity of the study; my stance is avoid it at all costs. They call it an “entertainment industry”; it is an “addiction industry” that will destroy. Parents, watch your kids. This stuff is readily available (for FREE) at the click of a mouse.

From the tech side of all this… I do not know what a person pays to become a member of the porn community, but in addition to that cost expect to pay for some type of computer repair in addition to possible identity theft.  Porn sites are notorious breeding grounds (no pun intended) for malware, viruses, pop-up windows, trojans, keyloggers, browser hijacking, tracking cookies; and on and on!  Also, nothing is more embarrassing than when a tech sits down to repair your PC and finds that you have a dark side!

Porn in the USA: Conservatives Are Biggest Consumers

8 of Top 10 Porn-Consuming States Voted Republican in 2008 Presidential Election

By EWEN CALLAWAY
Feb. 28, 2009

Americans may paint themselves in increasingly bright shades of red and blue, but new research finds one thing that varies little across the nation: the liking for online pornography.

States where a majority of residents agreed with the statement “I have old-fashioned values about family and marriage,” bought 3.6 more subscriptions per thousand people than states where a majority disagreed.
