We recently discussed the importance of backing up anything that is of importance to us (“Backing up files you personally value…”). When we use our web browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, etc…) we do not think about backing up our bookmark favorites and/or the profiles which we have painstakingly accumulated.
If you are an advocate of the Mozilla products, such as the Firefox Browser and the Thunderbird email client, I highly recommend that you download and try “MozBackup”. MozBackup is a simple utility for creating backups of Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, Mozilla Sunbird, Flock, SeaMonkey, Mozilla Suite, Spicebird, Songbird and Netscape profiles.
Your profiles, in a sense is the personality that you have given these applications, which includes your bookmarks, mail contacts, history, extensions, cache, etc… You will definitely feel at a loss if you lose your Mozilla profile settings in the event of a system crash or malfunction. The utility is very easy to use and will walk you through the entire “short and quick” process (see screenshots below). I currently use this utility to backup my Firefox profiles and settings. Restoring from the backup is as easy as doing the backup itself.
This program is freeware and works on Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista. It’s developed in Czech republic. There is a portable version, as well as an install version. You can get MozBackup [ HERE ] .
