When you throw software and me (Rick) into the mix, it is all about productivity and efficiency. Today I was happy to see two of my favorite FREE productivity software packages get major version upgrades (not that they needed it).
The first one is WordWeb that has been upgraded to Version 7.0. If you do not have WordWeb on your computer you are missing out on one of the best English thesaurus and dictionaries for Windows.
WordWeb is a one-click English thesaurus and dictionary for Windows that can look up words in almost any program. It works off-line, but can also look up words in web references such as the Wikipedia encyclopedia. Features of the free version include:
Definitions and synonyms
5000 audio pronunciations
65 000 text pronunciations
150 000 root words
120 000 synonym sets
Look up words in almost any program
The second one is Kingsoft Office Suite that has been upgraded to Kingsoft Office Suite 2013 (126.96.36.19956). I recently posted articles about Kingsoft, with the most recent being The Poor Man’s Microsoft Office. Save your money and try this out. It is very compatible with Microsoft Office.
Kingsoft Office Suite Free 2013 is perhaps the most versatile free office suite, which includes free word processor, spreadsheet program and presentation maker. These three programs help you deal with office tasks with ease:
Although it is a free suite, Kingsoft Office comes with many innovative features, including a paragraph adjustment tool, and multiple tabbed feature. It also has Office to PDF converter, automatic spell checking and word count features. In this latest version, new features such as watermark in document, and converting PowerPoint to Word documents are also supported.
