UltraSearch was recently updated; therefore I thought I would reblog one of my past reviews to help bring it to the forefront… I solely use UltraSearch, on my desktop PC, to find files and folders quickly.
I am not an advocate of the indexed file searching capabilities that is built into windows. I usually rely on third party applications, such as UltraSearch, to perform searches for files and folders on my computer.
The beauty of UltraSearch is that it does not rely on an index, instead it relies on locating files (and folders) by using the master file table (on NTFS partitions). As a result, the search results are ultra-fast.
Another plus, that is important to me, is that UltraSearch is available as a portable app that can be carried on my flash drive, from computer to computer.
Simply enter a file name or a pattern like *.exe and see the first results while you are still typing. In addition, UltraSearch supports regular expressions.
Additional information like file size and last change date will be shown for all listed files. Naturally, the Explorer…
