One Response to Geek Squeaks (#2015-33) FEATURING —Video On The Various Ways To Boot Windows 10 Into Safe Mode— and MORE GREAT STUFF

  1. The video on safe mode is a waste of time. You can easily find the same information quicker by googling the question. What I was hoping is that it would tell me how to get into safe mode when the PC is not booting at all. At that, it fails completely! However, checking another video that YouTube suggested, I found that there is a way to enable the old function of F8 during reboot. The method there required booting up from an external medium to get into repair mode. However, that is not necessary if you make the required change _before_ you actually need it. To do it, start the command prompt menu in admin mode and enter the following command:

    bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy

After that, pressing F8 during boot will get you the legacy startup options. Note that, once you have done it, it is then much easier to get into safe mode than by doing so from a running instance, as described in the video.
