How To Move Everything From Evernote To OneNote

If you read my last post, “I Don’t Like The Looks Of This (Evernote Changes Coming!)”, you may be looking for a way out if you currently use the FREE version of Evernote (AND, maybe the paid version since the price is leaping).

The best alternative option out there to Evernote is Microsoft OneNote, which is a very powerful and FREE cloud based note keeping application that can be used on nearly every smartphone, tablet and computer platform out there (i.e. Windows, Android, Apple and the Web). If you are a Windows 10 user, you will find the OneNote app already installed.

Here is how to move everything from Evernote to Microsoft OneNote:

  1. Make sure you have a Microsoft Account. If you are like me I had a Hotmail account that I have had for many years.  That will work… If you use Windows 10 it is highly likely the login credentials you established to login to Windows 10 is a Microsoft Account. If not sure, go to the Microsoft Account link above and see if you can login.  If not, you will need to establish an account…
  2. Go to “Making the move from Evernote to OneNote” … Microsoft has conveniently made a tool specifically designed to import your Evernote data into Microsoft OneNote. Simply download the importer and run it…
  3. I also recommend that you download the Windows Desktop version of OneNote which gives you the most bang for your FREE buck… Go to “Download OneNote”, look down the page for Windows Desktop.  Download and install… You will be prompted to use your Microsoft Account login when you first run it; AND, allow some time for your notes to populate in the application.
