This is Awesome… Play, Create and Share Realistic Looking Jigsaw Puzzles Online

December 20, 2014

When I come across something that I classify as “awesome”, I want to share it with my readers right away! Some of you may like jigsaw puzzles and some of you may not; however, you have to take a look at this online (virtual) version of jigsaw puzzles called Jigsaw Planet (by Tibo Software).

Briefly, I am familiar with Tibo Software’s Jigsaw Puzzle software and highly recommend it if you are into this sort of thing. The online version that they have created is the best out there (in my opinion) in coming very close to the real jigsaw puzzles that we put together out of the box.

Tibo - Jigsaw Planet

To play (or try) the online version, simply visit jigsawplanet.com and select one of the puzzles they have available. This will give you an idea of what I am talking about; but, if you sign up for an account this opens the door for a whole lot more such as uploading your own photos to create your own jigsaw puzzles that can be shared with others (by simply emailing them a link to the puzzle you created).

Also, account holders can create puzzle albums and customize the puzzles to determine the shape, number of pieces, sharing options, etc…; and, to make things more challenging, you can create puzzles where the pieces can be rotated by picking up the pieces by left clicking the mouse and rotating the piece by right clicking the mouse. I think this feature of rotating the pieces is unheard in comparison to other online jigsaw puzzles I have tried.

Account holders also have the luxury that once you start a puzzle, the puzzle is automatically saved, no matter where you leave off. If you log off or leave the site, when you come back and log in, your puzzle is there where you left it (with the pieces intact). Another feature here is that the pieces look real and you can go full screen (without ads)… I think, once you get in there with this, you will be bookmarking this jigsaw app.

FREE Stunning First Person Zombie Shooter Arcade Game For Android

September 21, 2012

If have an Android device (tablet or smartphone) and you have had a bad week, then download Dead Trigger and take out your frustrations on some Zombies (and save the earth).

Dead Trigger

Dead Trigger (rated: High Maturity) is a first person shooter with stunning graphics, full 3D characters, high quality 3D audio, and intuitive controls.

Personally, I am not into the shooter games, but as far back as I can remember (in the Wolfenstein and Doom days), I have always been amazed by the 3D graphics of these type of games. As a matter of fact, these types of games will push your PC to the limits (in terms of memory, processing, audio and video power). What is amazing to me is that Dead Trigger is geared toward the Android OS based smartphone and tablet. From my testing, Dead Trigger ran smoothly on my tablet…

Enjoy the zombie slaughter in many different ways: blast ’em out of existence with lethal weapons, blow them up with powerful explosives or chop off their limbs and let them die slowly

  • Shoot away their heads, chop off their limbs… kill them with creativity
  • Evolving zombie AI will keep you entertained
  • Follow the story or enjoy unlimited random missions
  • Load your gun and save the Earth!
  • Equip yourself with splendid high-poly realistic weapons
  • Utilize powerful gadgets including a laser amputator, blade chopper, baits, mines, grenades, radar and more

Experience 3D High Resolution Panoramic 360 Degree Aerial Views From Your Web Browser

April 2, 2012

Make sure to visit this site – AirPano – to experience nothing like you have ever seen before.

AirPano
AirPano is a noncommercial project focused on high resolution 3D aerial panoramas of some of the most interesting views on the planet. It continues to amaze me the direction we are going with this stuff and I feel we are only at the beginning. I would never had thought fifteen years ago I would be able to set at my computer (or now called a Tablet or Smartphone) and see the world in the manner and clarity that I am experiencing it now.

AirPano is a Moscow based group of panoramas enthusiasts that is focused on hi-resolution aerial panoramas

Normally, they shoot from a helicopter but sometimes they use light jets, dirigibles, air balloons and radio-controlled helicopter models.

During nearest 2 years the Airpano team is going to shoot the aero-panoramas and create the virtual tours of the most significant and interesting cities and corners of our planet. They already have created more than 250 panoramas which show more than 60 places of our world; all available for view on their  website. AirPano is a world leader in number of exhibited places, quantity of aerial panoramas as well as in art and technical quality of the creative works. Every week they present a new virtual tour on their website.

At present time they have shot about 70 places (most panoramas have already been represented on our site and some material is still waiting for the processing):

Use GooReader to Read Google Books

September 25, 2010

Reading on a PC is just not the same as reading from a book or magazine. I guess it is part of the generation that I was raised, but there is something about turning that page and the feel of that book. I always envisioned the day when I could read a book on my computer screen and turn the pages in a similar manner as a real book.

Well today is the day where this vision is coming true. I recently went on the hunt for a reading application that would allow you to read a book (or magazine) on your computer where the pages appeared to actually turn. What I came across, that closely meets my criteria, is a Google Books reader called GooReader.

GooReader

If you are not familiar with Google Books, it is an online collection of millions of books from libraries and publishers worldwide using Google Book Search

GooReader provides a sweet interface for reading publicly available books and magazines on Google Books. Instead of awkward page scrolling in your browser you can get pleasure of reading on your desktop in the same way as you read hardcover books or paperback magazines. With natural mouse moves you can turn over pages, zoom in and out, jump to the needed TOC item.

GooReader

You start using GooReader by entering a search criteria in the search box that is directly tied into Google Books Search.  If you notice above, I performed a search for Windows 7 and the books started appearing on the shelf.  You can select a book from the shelf to read full screen if you like, zoom in, zoom out AND turn the pages like a real book. The controls to turn the pages and perform these other functions are located at the bottom of the pages.

In GooReader the search results are represented as 3D book models on a bookshelf. You can setup the number of search results and the scale of the bookshelf. The program can search online books by title, author or keyword that can be used in its description or content. If you want to read or save specific book, you can simply enter its Book_ID and open it in Gooreader.

GooReader

Sometimes you may need to print Google Books or read them offline when you don’t have the internet connection. Besides, most people love to read books on mobile devices (like iPad) or popular e-Book readers (like Sony Reader, Kindle or Nook). In this case the PDF format is a perfect solution. GooReader allows to automatically save publicly available books and magazines to PDF files (please read the FAQ for details). Note that this feature is available in paid version.

To get a good feel about GooReader, I encourage you to take a look at the YouTube video below.

GooReader works only on Windows XP/Vista/7 and requires .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 installed. You do not need a Google login account to access these books; all books and magazines on Google Books are available for unregistered users.

3D Jigsaw Puzzles on your Computer for FREE

September 10, 2010

From the developers of Solitaire Forever, which is one of my favorite versions of Solitaire, comes Puzzles Forever.

Puzzles Forever

If you are a lover of jigsaw puzzles, then you are going to love this app. With Puzzles Forever you can take your own pictures and make 3D jigsaw puzzles in a very attractive interface (with fullscreen and zoom options).

Puzzles Forever

This software is capable of creating puzzles up to 900 pieces with difference piece types. You simply move the pieces by holding down your left mouse button. Rotating pieces can be accomplished by using your mouse wheel or the cursor (or arrow) keys on your keyboard. There are other neat controls, as well.

One thing to point out is that there is a registered version of Puzzles Forever as well, however the version I am pointing out is FREE. The difference between the two is that when you are creating your puzzle, some of the pieces are are already put into place for you. If you are like me, that is not a problem; I need all the help I can get.

Features:

– Beautiful, simple graphic interface
– Create puzzles with up to 900 pieces
– Enjoy six free puzzles
– Import your own pictures to use as puzzles
– Several puzzle piece shape types
– Multiple zoom levels
– Full screen mode

Virtualize Your Floor Plans with Project Dragonfly

July 3, 2009

Project Dragonfly is an online DIY (do it yourself) tool that you use in a real-time environment; to create, envision, furnish and ultimately virtualize floor plans (in 2D or 3D). Project Dragonfly was launched in March 2009 by Autodesk, which is world renown for 2D and 3D design software (e.g. Autocad) that is used in architecture, engineering and building construction. If you are familiar with CAD software then you know the complexity that is involved in learning the software. With Project Dragonfly the learning curve is minimal and there is no software installation involved. Simply visit the site and start designing. Project Dragonfly is another great example of a “flash based” cloud application that you run straight from your web browser.

Project Dragonfly

I encourage you to preview the video below as an introduction to Project Dragonfly (to get you started).  If you cannot wait to try it out, visit Project Dragonfly [ HERE ] .

The Duke is being Nuked…

May 9, 2009

1990’s – I can remember getting excited about the 3D “first person shooters” virtual reality (interactive) games that were in development. To be honest, I never ever fully completed any of these games due to my limited attention span; BUT it fascinated me that people coded (programmed) these works to do what they did… Amazing!  These games, as well as today’s games, are a testament and driving force to the development of gamer PC’s that push hardware to the limits.

In 1997 3D Realms (aka: Apogee Software, Ltd.) unleashed “Duke Nukem Forever”, which was touted as having one of the longest development cycles for a game. Many of the gamers out there will relate to this. 3D Realms (aka: Apogee Software, Ltd.) is known in a historical sense for the Duke Nukem, Commander Keen and Wolfenstein 3D  franchises.  Wolfenstein 3D was my favorite…

I came across two sources reporting that the Duke is being be Nuked.  My first source is Wikipedia [ click here ] .  The second source, reflected below, is a clip from one of my favorite sites:

Tom’s Hardware

Toms Hardware

1clipsm [Source: Tom’s Hardware ]
Report: Duke Nukem Developer Shuts Down

It looks like DNF might turn out to be a DNF*.

Rumor has it Duke Nukem Forever developer 3D Realms is shutting down. Shacknews today cites ‘a reliable source close to the company’ who said the developer, along with the recently resurrected Apogee name, is finished and employees from both have already been let go.

Klondike Forever…

September 8, 2008

Everyone loves to play solitaire, especially “Klondike”, which is the solitaire game that ships with Windows. I recently came across one, called “Klondike Forever” that is really super cool looking.  It is in 3D, with sound and beautiful visual effects AND it is FREE.  If you find yourself really loving the FREE version of “Klondike Forever”, the web site offers a paid version called “Solitaire Forever” with over 150 solitaire games brought to life in 3D.
