PDF Max 4 FREE – Desktop Class Android PDF App For Reading, Annotating Or Signing PDF Documents

February 1, 2015

All I can say is “WOW!”. PDF Max 4 FREE is a must install app for your Android Phone and/or Tablet that is in a class of its’ own. Most of the time when it comes to PDF apps we are usually presented with a PDF viewer that carries a few bells and whistles.

This app exceeds anything I have seen so far on the Android platform for PDF apps. The only way I can put this into perspective is to list the features (see below) as I am seeing them at Google Play; then, I will let you decide.

Also, note the graphic below that depicts an example of a document and to the right of that document you will see a bar containing a multitude of editing options. This bar is easily hidden and shown by tapping on the screen. Another option, that I like, is the ability to have the document read back to you with the apps built in text to speech feature.

Use PDFProtect to Password Protect Your PDF Files

February 18, 2013

A couple days back I featured an article titled, “Storing and Opening Password Protected PDF Files Online Using Google Drive and SkyDrive”, that explained how Google Drive and SkyDrive have the ability to open password protected PDF files. The problem is, you may not have the software or may be in a situation away from your computer where you cannot perform this task. This is where the online service called PDFProtect can help you.

Simply visit PDFProtect, upload your PDF file, create a password to protect your PDF file, select the encryption strength and if your file contains personal or confidential information select secure connection. Once the file has been uploaded and the password protection has been added, you will be prompted to download the PDF file that is now password protected. PDFProtect allows a file size up to 50 MB…

January 1, 2013

If you are an Android device owner (smartphone or tablet) and you are a Microsoft Office user it is important to have the ability to create, view and edit Microsoft Word, Excel or Powerpoint files, while on the go.

The android app that I settled with, that is FREE, is the acclaimed Kingsoft Office for Android. I have tested nearly every android app out there that is capable of creating, viewing and editing Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint files, and Kingsoft Office is, in my opinion, the best choice and the most accurate.

Kingsoft Office for Android

Kingsoft Office for Android is the only Android mobile Office with full-features FREE. It is currently the No.1 FREE Business App in the Google Play Market. Over 12 million people worldwide are using this mobile office app to edit, share, and collaborate on the go. It is widely used in various popular mobile phones like Samsung and HTC. For Samsung Galaxy Note, we have a special installer, learn more.

Two of my favorite features are the ability to read Adobe PDF files and the ability to upload and download files on Box.net, Google Drive and Dropbox, directly from the file manager built into the app.

Feature List:

  • Desktop Widget
  • Writer for Android
  • Spreadsheets for Android
  • Presentation for Android
  • File manager
  • Input file formats: Support 23 kinds of files, including DOC/DOCX/TXT /XLS/XLSX/PPT/PPTX/PDF

  • Share documents via Email
    and Cloud Storage.
  • Easily open, view and send
    Email attachments.
  • Upload and download files
on Box.net, Google Drive and Dropbox.
  • The interface is simple and easy to navigate.
  • The thumbnail wall helps you to find the recently opened files quickly.
  • The Desktop Widget provides convenient document previewing and editing functions.

Convert Adobe PDF to Microsoft Word

March 4, 2010

I recently attended a day long seminar on emergency management for my current job and the instructor was displaying various forms and documents in the Adobe PDF file format that was available for our use.  The instructor went on to say that it is too bad there is not a way to make those PDF forms and documents editable.  I wanted to jump right out of my chair; however, I did not want to embarass my colleagues who  already think I’m an overclocked CPU.  Folks, there are numerous converters available on the internet that will convert PDF files to the Microsoft Word format.  One such site is Convert PDF to Word.net

To make the conversion you simply browse for the file you desire to convert, then hit the convert and download button. During my testing, the converter took the PDF file and converted it into blocks of text.  As with any document converter, there may be slight differences in the formatting.  For example, documents containing tables can be hard to get a really good final result; BUT, hey whose complaining.  These converters do a pretty good job!

Convert PDF to Word.net, is part of a larger scheme of converters, that are reflected below for your convenience:

A Super Fast and Portable PDF Viewer

November 27, 2009

If you like fast; then you will like Sumatra PDF Viewer (or Reader).  This viewer blows them all of the water when opening and viewing PDF files. Sumatra is open source (FREE), is simplistic in nature (not a lot of bells & whistles), small in file size (<1.2 MB), does not write to the Windows registry, and is available in a full install version (for on your PC) or as a portable version (for on your flash drive).

If you go the full install (setup) route on your PC, you can make Sumatra your default PDF viewer (or reader), in place of Adobe PDF. I actually uninstalled Foxit PDF Reader on my PC, another great PDF viewer, to give Sumatra the lead duty of opening PDF files on my PC.
