Today’s Geek Squeaks – September 17, 2013

September 17, 2013

A summary of Today’s Geek Squeaks:

Squeak #1 – (NetSolitaire): Love playing solitaire? NetSolitaire is one of the best cloud based solitaire games I have come across that you play in your web browser (see below);

Squeak #2 – (Wallpaper “Inside The Icicle”): I normally only feature wallpapers once a week; however, this one called “Inside The Icicle” popped up on my screen and I went WOW!  I just had to share this wallpaper with you (see below);

Squeak #3 – (Microsoft Bing Has A NEW Look):  Over 4 years ago I posted an article, “Bing – Microsoft’s New Search Engine”, that received more comments than any other article I ever posted at What’s On My PC. At that time, people were complaining that Bing took over their computer and apparently they thought I created Bing and demanded I remove it. Fast forward to today and Bing has become a main competitor to Google and a now they have once again given Bing a new look (see below); AND,

Squeak #4 – (Desktop Cable Management): A neat, inexpensive, way to manage cable clutter on your desktop (see below)…

Visit The World’s Biggest Online Pac-Man Game

May 6, 2011

Pac-Man is a game that we are all familiar with that has been around since 1980. The objective is to control Pac-Man through a maze, eating (dots) and not to be eaten (by Blinky, Pinky and Inky and Clyde). If Pac-Man is eaten, a life is lost.  If Pac-Man eats all of the dots, Pac-Man advances to the next level.

image

Pac-Man is now available in your web browser using HTML5 browser technology and that is not all.  It is “The World’s Biggest Pac-Man” game with hundreds of mazes to choose from. This particular Pac-Man has teamed up with Windows to show off and promote the capabilities of Internet Explorer 9. You can visit “The World’s Biggest Pac-Man” [HERE] .

Entanglement – A New Twist In Online Gaming

February 17, 2011

You have to give this game a try.  It is called Entanglement and you play it in your web browser.

I was not able to find any specific instructions, but once you play around with it you will become submersed in the gameplay.  It may have something to do with the mesmerizing background music and the fact that Entanglement is just plain challenging (and fun).

Entanglement

The game looks like a honeycomb and if you notice in the above graphic of Entanglement you will see a gray hexagon area and a brownish red hexagon area (called the wall). The gray area is the playing area where you will receive tiles with squiggly lines (called paths) on them. When you receive a tile you can rotate the tiles with your mouse scroll wheel or the arrow keys on your keyboard. The objective is to connect the squiggly lines on the tiles to create a path and not come in contact with the red hexagon area (called the wall). Points are accumulated as you play. This game is new to me and I am still learning, but I have found it is not easy and requires strategic thinking on your part.  Really tests my short attention span : )

Note: Entanglement is engineered using HTML5. That means you will need an HTML5 compatible browser (such as the latest versions of Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari or the beta of Internet Explorer 9).
