Glary Utilities 5 – System Optimization and Maintenance Tool Featuring Over 20 tools to maximize your Computer’s performance

November 6, 2017

I have featured Glary Utilities on the blog in the past and thought I would do a re-visit to see where the program is at this time. Glary Utilities has been around for a long time and I have installed/uninstalled it many times over the years. Today, after looking at an interface that is new to me, I decided to re-install Glary Utilities and use it as my main system optimization and maintenance tool. One important thing I like about this utility is that you can download it as a portable app and keep it on your flash drive (tech toolbox). There is a FREE version of this software, as well as a professional (paid) version.

The interface of Glary Utilities is super easy to navigate (with one click functionality) with options to perform maintenance options automatically. The program includes over twenty system utilities (such as a Registry Cleaner, Spyware Remover, Startup Manager and Shortcuts Fixer) and features a “Windows Boot Time Monitor” that will tell you how fast your computer starts up. This time is then compared with other Windows users. This is useful in determining if there is something causing your computer to lag at boot up.

Glary Utilities, according to their site, is compatible with all versions of Windows.

Numerous “System Tools” in one simplistic package…

January 3, 2009

I have seen it posted on numerous sites and blogs; but, never really took it for a test drive… It is called Glary Utilities… I have to say, I am quite impressed with the numerous “pick and choose” features in Glary Utilities. If you are into tweaking, optimizing, repairing, protecting or just improving your system, this is one utility that has it all. I also discovered, which I have not seen mentioned anywhere; there is also a “portable version” of Glary Utilities that can be downloaded from the website – [click here].  For the sake of this review, I downloaded the portable version and can say, it will now be a permanent resident on my flash drive.

Glary Utilities

The #1 free, powerful and all-in-one utility in the world market!

Glary Utilities

Optimize, clean and boost the speed of your Windows.

Protect your privacy and security.

Block spyware, trojans, adware, etc.

Fix certain application errors.

Simple, fast and User friendly interface

For only private use

It allows you to clean common system junk files, as well as invalid registry entries and Internet traces. You can manage and delete browser add-ons, analyze disk space usage and find duplicate files. You can also view and manage installed shell extensions, encrypt your files from unauthorized access and use, split large files into smaller manageable files and then rejoin them. Furthermore, Glary Utilities includes the options to optimize memory, find, fix, or remove broken Windows shortcuts, manage the programs that start at Windows startup and uninstall software. Other features include secure file deletion, an Empty Folder finder and more.

Time to clean house…

December 8, 2008

CCleaner

At least weekly (and sometimes daily) I perform a routine cleanup on my PC to rid of the file debris that the operating system, computer programs and my internet browser(s) leave behind.  Over a period of time the accumulation of these files are phenomenal and can lead to the slow down (defragmentation) of a PC and can lead to privacy and vulnerability concerns.  The program that I use to automate the cleanup process is one of the most popular system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool out there.  It is called “CCleaner” (aka: CrapCleaner). CCLeaner, which is totally “FREE”,  has been downloaded over 210 million times… WOW!

CCleaner

Most people like this program for its ability to cleanup your browser tracks (i.e. Temporary files, history, cookies, Autocomplete form history, index.dat.).  Did you know that the “index.dat” file that is used by Internet Explorer is a repository of  redundant information, such as web URLs (of every web site visited), search queries and recently opened files.  If you think you are hiding your tracks by using the cleaning function in your browser, you better think twice… That “index.dat” file is a telltale sign of your browsing history and there is more than one of those on your system. Using CCleaner will also automate the process of emptying your Recycle Bin, and removing your Recent Documents, Temporary files and Log files.  The program also sports a built in registry cleaner, which prompts you for a backup, prior to making any changes.  I am a strong supporter of this program and use it as part of my routine maintenance strategy.

Description (as indicated on the web site):

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it’s fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! 🙂

NOTE:  The first time you run the program, do not be alarmed that it is taking awhile (not uncommon).  Following that initial cleaning, the cleaning process is much quicker.  Also, there is a “portable” version available that you can download run from your flash drive.
